SUMMARY:Chapter Two: FESTAC '77 Beyond Nostalgia [A Salon Conversation]
DESCRIPTION:Nahous and Carté Lagos present Chapter Two of the Carté Salon series.\nThis salon returns to FESTAC ’77\, one of the most ambitious cultural gatherings in African history. While the first chapter examined the ideological background and ambitions that shaped the festival\, this conversation turns to what followed.\nTogether we will consider the aftermath of FESTAC ’77: the structures that carried it\, the institutions it was expected to sustain\, and the question of what remained once the moment of spectacle had passed.\nThrough archival material\, film excerpts\, and guided discussion\, the salon invites participants to reflect on cultural ambition\, memory\, and continuity in Nigeria.\nThe conversation takes place at the Old Federal Palace at Nahous.\n\nTickets [here]. \nDetails by @carte.lagos and @thenahous. \n*** \nDisclaimer: Unless explicitly stated\, ArtGuideAfrica does not own\, endorse and is not affiliated with any event/organisation included on this event calendar.
